COMMUNAL LIVING

This project was a response to the reinventing pairs design competition. The site was an exiting water pumping station in the affluent 16th arrondissement of Paris. From listening to the aspirations of the ambitious competition manifesto the idea was to focus on a new, positive and innovative way to deal with Paris lack of inner-city social housing. The site was split into two main themes of Social housing and an entertainment/social space inspired by Parisian culture. The housing became a mix of co living units and private family units suitable for any generation. What I wanted to create was an environment sustained and shared by its tenants. It was a vision for a completely social and liveable model to combat rising urbanism. In the events centre, the existing building would set the scene for an adaptable functional space that encourages community and inclusion for people without the district and within. To achieve this a bridge was envisioned to span from the site to the existing Parc André Citroën in the 15th arrondissement.
